Player Code of Conduct

PBO Player Code of Conduct 

Palos Baseball Organization (PBO) is committed to creating a positive, safe, and sportsmanlike environment for all players. As a condition of participating in PBO, every player agrees to the following standards:

1. Sportsmanship

I will show respect for my teammates, coaches, umpires, opponents, and spectators at all times.

I will shake hands with opponents and thank umpires after games.

I will play fair and always try my best.

2. Respect for Umpires

I understand that umpires have the final say.

I will not argue calls or show disrespect through words, gestures, or actions.

I will accept decisions with maturity and focus on the next play.

3. Respect for Coaches

I will listen to my coaches and follow their instructions.

I will not talk back, ignore directions, or show negative attitude.

I will communicate respectfully if I don’t understand something.

4. Respect for Teammates

I will encourage my teammates and help create a positive environment.

I will not blame, tease, or put down teammates for mistakes.

I will support everyone, regardless of their skill level.

5. Effort, Hustle & Team Commitment

I will attend practices and games on time and prepared.

I will bring the right equipment and wear the proper uniform.

I will give full effort in practices and games and will not give up on plays.

6. Behavior on the Field and in the Dugout

I will stay in the dugout unless told otherwise by a coach.

I will keep the dugout clean and will not throw equipment or use it unsafely.

I will show self-control and handle frustration the right way.

7. Zero Tolerance Policy

I understand that the following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in suspension or removal from PBO:

Arguing with umpires

Using foul or inappropriate language

Throwing equipment in anger

Bullying, teasing, or intentionally hurting another player

Threatening or disrespecting coaches, umpires, or players

Using social media to mock, harass, or embarrass teammates or opponents

8. Safety Responsibilities

I will use equipment properly and keep my helmet on when required.

I will not swing bats in the dugout or around others.

I will tell a coach if I am hurt or do not feel well.

9. No Alcohol, Drugs, Tobacco, or Vaping

I understand that the use or possession of alcohol, tobacco, vapes, or illegal substances is strictly prohibited at all PBO activities.

10. Respect for Facilities & Fields

I will take care of PBO and City of Palos Heights property.

I will pick up after myself and treat fields, dugouts, and equipment with respect.

11. Social Media Conduct

I will use social media responsibly and will not post comments, photos, or videos that are disrespectful, unkind, or harmful to others.

I understand that inappropriate online behavior may result in disciplinary action.

12. Consequences

I understand that if I do not follow this Code of Conduct, possible consequences include:

Verbal warning

Removal from a game

Suspension from future games

Removal from the team or league

Any action determined necessary by PBO Trustees to protect players and maintain league standards

13. Player Commitment

By participating in PBO, I agree that:

I have read or had this Code of Conduct explained to me.

I understand these expectations and agree to follow them.

I will represent my team, my coaches, and PBO with respect, effort, and good sportsmanship.
