Mike Davies coached kids’ teams at PBO for nearly two decades. On June 28th, 1996, PBO dedicated the Pinto baseball field in his name to honor his years of dedication to the association. It all started in 1979 when Davies long time friend Bob Ellsworth asked him to help coach. As Bob moved up with his older boys, Mike continued to coach in the Pinto division and watched as the Palos Baseball Organization grow from 300 kids to over 60 team in the four divisions. He was widely known for his sports reporting of the PBO teams and their games in the league for the local newspapers. It was a major highlight for the kids to get their names in the paper. Mike had tremendous fun thru the years teaching the kids baseball and watching them improve from the first day they showed up at the ball fields.
