Successful 2021 Fundraiser

6/13/2021

To the families of Palos Baseball,

The beginning of the year was full of uncertainty, concerns for health and obstacles that would not only change the operation of a community baseball league but also change how we live and interact with each other. There were times when a season of baseball seemed in jeopardy but as the year progressed and we started to get back to normalcy we knew as an organization that we had to try and make this season work for our kids and families to enjoy the community once again.

While baseball is a small part of your child's life it creates a huge impact in the steps they take to becoming an adult. Teamwork, adversity, balancing emotions, hard work and focus are all things that baseball can teach. These lessons aren't just taught through the game but they are taught through the volunteers of the community who dedicate a large amount of their time to coach them or help the league in any way they can. For that we can't thank you enough.

This season I was trusted by the board to be voted in as President of the league. This is a job that I knew would take a lot of effort, time, creative thinking and tough decision making.  While I may give my best effort, the support of the trustees, the behind the scenes volunteers and families of the community has been second to none. Day after day their dedication to the league never ends and they are there every day doing many thankless jobs that need to be done throughout the park with no questions asked. My hats off to you!

Recently we have had an incredible amount of Palos Baseball Families who participated in the recent Popcorn fundraiser through Double Good. The reason we decided to do this was to create an easy competitive fundraiser  to help one of the remaining in-house leagues stay strong.  It was a leap of faith and it had its challenges to get going but the overwhelming success far exceeded our expectations! PBO families sold nearly $30,000 in popcorn totaling nearly $15,000 in profit which 100% of those funds go directly back to the league to maintain the upkeep and operation of the organization!

Finally, It can be easy to overlook the dedication a community shows towards an organization such as PBO, but year after year our stands are packed with families and the fields are full of great kids who want to learn the game of baseball alongside their friends. So Thank You for allowing this season to be a success and Thank You to all of the families who have allowed their children to join our vision of baseball, friendship and growth as a community.
