To the Families of Palos Baseball

A season of baseball is something that can be over looked when it comes to the life lessons that each of us may learn. Whether it’s a player, coach or family member we will always learn something about ourselves or about the players we are watching. We learn success, we learn failures, we learn how to become better teammates or even better friends. We see the struggles that great players go through and we see the learning curves that new players encounter. 

But one thing that makes Baseball unique is it’s ability to show each player a glimpse of their potential at any point in a game. Whether it’s their first ever hit, a catch that saves the game or home run to win it, each level of success has its own excitement and it’s own meaning. You never know the moment that is going to take a shy and timid player to the next level, that’s what makes this game great. Every second there’s a possibility that a life can be changed and a new passion can be created! 

As a coach throughout the years I’ve seen this transformation, players who didn’t trust their abilities at 7/8 years old are now thriving at older ages. This happens because they are surrounded by people who trust in them and appreciate their ability to grow and learn the game with passion, they are given time to find that play or that game where their love for this sport explodes and their confidence is realized! To be able to share in accomplishments such as those are truly a blessing and I wouldn’t change it for the world! 

Palos Baseball is an organization that I truthfully love being apart of, its a group of trustees that care about this league and the families in it so much that they volunteer their time and energy to make it work. While it’s not perfect we try our hardest each and every day on and off season to make it what it is today. 

Finally,

If you look in center of the Bronco field you will see a very important message that one of the great families in this league has brought to us. That message is “Today Matters” while it may sound simple the deeper meaning is a gift given to the league from the Pokrajac family. It’s a constant reminder to us all that what we do TODAY will shape us into what we want to be or what we want for our children as they grow into adults. It shows us that there is something within each day worth fighting for, Something worth improving on or even something worth changing. I hope that the intentions of their message find a spot with your family and you can use it as a way to find meaning and greatness in each day. 

Thank you on behalf of all the volunteer trustees for truly embracing our goal which is to provide an experience for the community that will last a life time. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and wish nothing but the best to all the families in the organization!
